Indie Polishes

Indie polishes – the craze that’s sweeping the nation! Or polish nation, at least.

Let’s take inventory of what I will own once packages arrive:

Cult Nails - See Blog [X] Shop [XHer polishes are usually $10 each but I bought them during $5 sales

  • Toxic Seaweed ($5)
  • Captivated ($5)
  • Iconic ($5)
  • Living Water ($5)
  • My Kind of Cool Aid ($5)
  • Let Me Fly ($5)
  • Enigmatic ($5)
Dollish Polish – See Shop [X]
  • Super Bass ($8.75)

Lynnderella - Buy through Llarowe or swap on some sort of nail polish community – Currently REALLY hard to get hold of these, she’s set her blog to private and nobody seems to be selling them anymore. I’m so lucky to be able to swap for GLB <3

  • Gotta Love Brains (Swap, $2 for shipping)

Pretty and Polished - Blog [X] Shop [X] (Follow her on Twitter or FB to know when she restocks)

  • Hearts and Daggers ($8.50)
  • Candy Coated ($8.50)

There we go. That’s my meager collection of Indie polishes, but I truly do love each and every one of them :D

Pretty and Polished Purchases

I bought my first “INDIE” polishes today! (If Cult Nails doesn’t count? If it does, then this is my second Indie brand)

Pretty and Polished opened her Etsy shop yesterday at 7PM EST. She restocked many of her favorites, including my favorites:

  • Bayou Blitz
  • Jawbreaker
  • Candy Coated
  • Hearts and Daggers (Reminds me of Hole-Hearted)
  • Party on my Yacht
She opened her shop at 7:00 PM. I quickly put full-sized Bayou Blitz, Candy Coated, Hearts and Daggers in my cart along with minis of Party on my Yacht and Jawbreaker.
At 7:05, when I went to check out and pay via Paypal, I managed to only sneak out with 2 of the full-sized polishes, all the others got dropped because they sold so quickly! Shopping was such a rush, it reminded me of the days I crazily refreshed on Neopets during Limited Edition Pet days or 3AM restocks and avatar/sidebar releases. Ridiculousness and such.
Chelsea sells full-sized bottles for $8.50 and mini polishes for $4.75 each. I cannot wait for the new polishes to arrive so I can swatch them!!! I’m extremely excited.
I can’t even find nice pictures for Hearts and Daggers so maybe I’ll try to submit my own macro shots when the bottle arrives? I can try, even if she doesn’t end up using them right? Worth a shot for sure, I think.

Working on a good Mother’s Day Present

For Mother’s Day, I want to try to complete the entire OPI India Collection for her. She can display them on her dresser separate from my polishes and they’ll look amazing.

Wish me luck, help me out!

Short Nails!

I cut my nails down. Really, REALLY short.
Then I painted them with OPI Russian Navy Suede.
Then I put on Revlon FastDry Topcoat.

I love them. It was soo much quicker painting them now that they’re half their previous length.

Amazing Giveaway by Konadlicious!!

Well let’s be real. I love Etsy shops, I follow them, I read everybody’s reviews of them, but I simply CANNOT bring myself to pay full price for them. Call me stingy, call me broke, call me whatever.

As much as I crave a bottle of Floam in my life, my budget doesn’t allow me to pay $8-10 per bottle + shipping. Especially since these are all from different Etsy shops and I can’t even pay combined shipping.

I take advantage of sales when I see them (I own 6 gorgeous bottles of Cult Nails from Maria and John’s Black Friday sale, and I purchased 2 more during their $5 sale) but this giveaway is the be-all end-all of giveaways I think. You’re getting ~$500 worth of polish from amazing indie brands AND normal companies like OPI, etc.

This is amazing. You get Cult Nails, you get Lacquistry, you get OPI, and you get enough polish to make you and your 15 best friends happy for a lifetime haha. Good luck entering!

52 Week Challenge: Pastels

With Easter right around the corner and Spring on its way, this week’s theme for the challenge is PASTEL!

Unfortunately, my OPI Pirates of the Caribbean collection is back home on Long Island, and although I go home tonight, I did this manicure earlier in the week. Thus, I had to make do with what I had.

I will take better pictures that more accurately show you the colors. For some reason, my camera amped them up. In reality, these are pastels, all of them <3 (Or the closest I have to them anyway)

Colors used -

OPI Base Coat
Essie Navigate Her
Essie Bangle Jangle
OPI A Grape Fit
OPI Pink Friday
Zoya Danni
Zoya Midori
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Mellow Yellow
China Glaze Fairy Dust (Beautiful holo glitter topcoat)
OPI Top Coat

Thank you for reading!!

52 Week Challenge: Inspired by Pattern

Nothing too elaborate this time, but the pictures are pretty!
I used Sally Hansen Salon Effects nail polish strips in a pattern called Kitty, Kitty.

Because the strip is really sticky and thin, you need to work a little hard to get it to align right in one go and not fold in on itself. As you can see in the pic below, I left a lot of space in one of my nails. Ohhh well.

Overall, I really enjoyed the look. Easiest manicure I’ve done in a while, to say the least.

Pros -
The strips came with really nicely detailed instructions
Very easy to put on and take off
No bubbling
Cute packaging
Both ends are rounded and my nails are small enough that each strip can be used for two nails, so I did the entire manicure in 5 strips of polish, leaving me with plenty more left.

Cons -
Taking off the excess = gave me ‘tipwear’ from day one. By that, I mean that the file they gave to slough off the excess sort of crinkles and rips up the tip a little if you aren’t careful. Next time, I’m going to wrap the polish strip around my nail and manually rip it off before filing the excess.
The overall wear time wasn’t /that/ great. I lasted 4 days before getting annoyed and removing it
One of my strips grew a crack straight down the middle.

TransDesign eHaul!

Hello everybody!

Today, I made my first online polish purchase via Trans Design. Shipping came out to just under $10 for 9 polishes and a China Glaze magnet! Most of the haul is for a swap I’ll tell you about when the time comes, but here are the goodies I’m ordering for myself -

China Glaze For Audrey (I cannot wait!!)
China Glaze Ruby Pumps (Again, I CANNOT WAIT)
China Glaze Luxe and Lush
China Glaze Agro
China Glaze Fast Track [The 3 polishes from the Hunger Games collection I wanted]
+ ORLY Fowl Play (Huge lemming for this and it was in stock so what the hell, why not)

The China Glaze polishes were $3 each, and the Orly was $4.25

So as you can see, most of the goodies are for myself. I had to restrain myself from buying the Up & Away collection as originally planned, mainly because I had to remind myself that I have to pay the rent next week and honestly, I don’t need any more nail polish.

I do, however, need to buy nail polish remover. And do my nails all up in pastel since the Sally Hansen Salon Effects in Kitty, Kitty (That I wore for my pattern week) is already icky looking. But before I do that, I need myself some remover!!

Baby Mani – Essie Smooth Sailing + Extra Cuteness

I have an adorable little niece. She’s 5 years old now, and unfortunately lives in New Jersey now :( As a result, I don’t see her nearly as often as I’d like to! But when I do, she always wants what’s on my nails to be on her nails as well. She’s sooo cute and I think I may have started a new nail polish fiend. She’s obsessed already! I look forward to sharing my goodies with her as she gets older! And she has a younger sister (1 and a half year old and adorableeeeee) as well. She already begs my cousin for permission to paint her younger sister’s nails just as I paint hers. On the rare occassion she gets that permission, it’s pretty messy. But again, too cute so I’m not complaining.

Last we hung out, I had my NOTD from the previous post on. She wanted something similar, so here’s what we did -

Her manicure is obviously the tinier hand. The accent nail has a rose.

Essie Smooth Sailing + Milani Diamond Dazzle

Showing it off!! She was flashing her hands at everybody she saw!

And before I leave, I have one more cute story to share -

While I was doing the rose nail art for the first accent finger, I messed up bigtime. I don’t think it looks like a flower at all :( She was fidgeting a bit, and I’ve never really done roses before either, so it came out looking like a pink blob.

I told her I’m sorry that I messed up the rose, and she responds to me SO SWEETLY, saying: “It’s okay aunty, everything you do is beautiful. You tried your best and I love it.”

I’m not even paraphrasing, that’s exactly what she said. And she’s only 5. SO CUTE.

I think I’m on cuteness overload just typing out this post lol. Enjoy (:

OH & as a bonus, here’s my Valentine’s Day manicure from Feb. and her kiddie version of it. Just for funzies.

Ours -

Here’s a closeup of my manicure. The heart glitter was from a sequin/glitter/something pot I bought from Ricky’s on sale for $2.

Just for reference, the above manicure was -
OPI Base Coat
OPI Pedal Faster Suzi (2 coats)
Milani Digital (1 thin coat)
OPI Top Coat
+Heart Glitter on accent nail. Individually placed with a dotting tool dipped in a bit of top coat.

Thank you for reading!

Pryanka

NOTD: OPI I Don’t Give A Rotterdam

Hi all! In between 52 week challenge posts, I went to go get a manicure & pedicure with a friend. Although I do hate giving over my nails in somebody else’s care, I cannot shape my own nails for the life of me.

I’m not particularly thrilled with the job she did overall, but the color is gorgeous! It’s the one color from the OPI Holland collection I want but didn’t get, so I figured getting an OPI Holland Mani/Pedi would satisfy my lemming for now. I already own OPI Pedal Faster Suzi (Which is the prettiest, most girly pink I probably own. I dare say I like it way more than OPI Pink Friday. Which is sort of blasphemous considering my love for Nicki Minaj, but oh well) but I really, really wanted either Rotterdam or Herring Problem. Their names are just too adorable, but that’s just the cherry on top.

Here’s mah manicure! Mah pointer finger’s a lil stub because I broke it but I don’t have the heart to file all my nails to size. They’re so ugly when short LOL.

OPI I Don’t Give a Rotterdam
Just look at all that pretty shimmer!
And in the shade, you see the grey undertones coming out!
This was a gorgeous color, and extremely fun to wear. I enjoyed my time with it haha. I’m not sporting the manicure anymore, but before I show you my current nails (They’re rather jazzed up), I have a cute little surprise in my next post.
